The brief for this spacious, family garden required both formal and informal seating areas, pond, swings and a sunken trampoline.

The original site lent itself to a three-tier design to compensate for the garden sloping away from the house. A clean, modern design was requested for the top tier to reflect the home’s new extension, with the lower two tiers transitioning to a more traditional/natural setting. This design leads down to the copper beech and silver birches at the bottom of the garden. The use of permeable self-binding gravel and soft planting combines well with the polished slate tiles and granite paving, creating a pleasant balance between the traditional and contemporary.
